*Let’s Talk About Love* is a studio album by Canadian singer Céline Dion, released on November 18, 1997. The album arrived during one of the most successful periods of Dion’s international career and brought together pop ballads, collaborations and large-scale vocal performances.
The project was recorded in London, New York and Los Angeles and involved a wide range of prominent singers, songwriters, musicians and producers. This collaborative approach gave the album a varied character while keeping Dion’s powerful vocal performances at the center of the recordings.
One of the album’s notable collaborations is “Tell Him,” a duet between Dion and Barbra Streisand. Their collaboration followed their meeting around the 1997 Academy Awards and brought together two singers known for dramatic and technically demanding vocal performances.
“The Reason” opens the album and was written by Carole King, Mark Hudson and Greg Wells. The recording was produced by George Martin, whose extensive career included his famous work with The Beatles.
Another major collaboration is “Immortality,” written by Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. The Bee Gees also contributed backing vocals to the recording, creating one of the album’s most recognizable collaborations.
The album also features Dion performing with Luciano Pavarotti on “I Hate You Then I Love You.” Alongside these large-scale ballads and duets, tracks such as “Treat Her Like a Lady” introduce a more rhythmic pop direction.
The song that ultimately became most closely associated with the album was “My Heart Will Go On.” Written by James Horner and Will Jennings and connected with James Cameron’s film *Titanic*, the recording became an enormous international success following the film’s release.
“My Heart Will Go On” received major recognition at the GRAMMY Awards, including Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Its success also helped bring additional international attention to *Let’s Talk About Love*.
The album itself received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. Its mixture of romantic ballads, international collaborations and contemporary pop production illustrates the scale of Dion’s recording career during the late 1990s.
